Transitional Kindergarten

Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program offers stimulating, academically challenging learning experiences that are more mature in scope than the four-year-old Pre-K program but are taught in a less structured, more relaxed environment than traditional kindergarten.

trans-kindergartenABC123 offers a Transitional Kindergarten program using the Starfall Kindergarten Curriculum,
Math-u-See, and McRuffy Science. This program is for children who are eligible for Kindergarten but whose parents decide to wait a year before enrolling them. It is also available for children who display academic and social/emotional readiness who may just miss the cut-off date for Kindergarten entrance.

Research indicates that entering Kindergarten at an older age is one early predictor of student success. It also allows children to further develop their social and emotional skills and be ready to actively engage in academics at the Kindergarten level. More and more parents are choosing this option for their children because of the rigorous academic pressures of today’s Kindergarten programs. This program does not replace an accredited Kindergarten. It is an extra year of growth and learning in between Pre-K and Kindergarten.

Children will be eligible for this program if they are 5 years of age and/or have completed a full year of Pre-K. An extra benefit of this class is that it will be a small group of children allowing for each child to have one-on-one instruction and attention with their teacher along with small group instruction.
